This course is open to the public. They take Visa, MC, AE and Discover. Collared shirts and no cut offs. Walking is allowed. They have an irons only driving range. They have a full bar and restaurant with a nice view of number 10.
Old Capital has level Bermuda grass fairways leading to small, medium and large bent grass (L93) greens with mild, sometimes subtle undulation. Water is a prominent feature/hazard with eight ponds and one stream that is frequently incorporated in the layout. Mature trees and 42 sand bunkers also add to difficulty.
The original nine hole course opened in 1946 but little, if any of the original layout remains. In 1998 new ownership closed the course and splurged for a complete redesign. Course architect J. Christopher Commins did the redesign and the course reopened in 2001.
6,732 yard, 18 hole, par 72 course.
Slope 133 Rating 71.9
Other tee positions are available making the course less difficult.

ON COURSE COMMENTS 8-07
Nice place! This is a good design consistently in good shape. Lots of water. The stream is in play on seven holes. They continue to spend money, adding rock walls that both intimidate and are aesthetically pleasing.
The course was in good shape for this visit. Bermuda fairways and tees show some weather related (late freeze) issues, but have recovered for the most part.
