We like to deal in "Page Views" due to the way "Hits" can be manipulated to produce a number that does not accurately measure user traffic at a website.

Page Views are users opening a page to look at it.

"Unique Visitors" are users that are new to the site or possibly have returned after the site cookie has expired or been deleted from the users computer. Unique Visitors is also a valuable measure of website traffic.
